Head Tennis Coach

Job Summary

The tennis club is looking for a full-time Head Tennis Coach who is able to deliver group and private coaching lessons for players of all ages and abilities.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Expected to participate in all on court coaching programs
  • Deliver group, private, semiprivate lessons, and a hot shots program to a wide range of ages, abilities and fitness levels
  • Deliver junior squads to a wide range of levels, abilities, and fitness levels
  • Cardio tennis program
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Encourage junior coaching participants and their parents to be part of the club and encourage entry into Saturday morning competition
  • Build relationships with local primary schools and secondary schools to deliver tennis-based school programs
  • Active participation in running club events including club open day and club championships
  • Actively encourage players to participate in any intra club competitions
  • Assist in the selection of teams for competitions
  • Actively encourage players to nominate for selection in PTA in representational teams
  • Actively encourage players to enter tournaments
  • Attend club committee meetings as required to provide an update on the coaching program, development, current activities, and activities proposed for the future
  • Exclusively provide pro shop facilities to members including stringing and equipment purchase
  • Arrive early to set up equipment and greet students

Venue and Company description

The tennis club has 9-courts with lights on them, with all courts recently resurfaced. The club also has an active social and night tennis competitions. The tennis club is a family friendly club, has a positive club culture and seeks to promote the well-being of its members through a shared passion for tennis. An active committee strives to provide a welcoming environment in which to socialise, have fun and participate for adults and juniors. The club has a pre COVID-19 membership of approximately 200.

Candidate qualifications and skills

  • Minimum Club Professional Level Coach
  • Tennis Australia Coach Member
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Senior First Aid Certificate level 2
  • Personal Injury Insurance and any other relevant insurance


  • Possess exceptional communication skills across all ages and genders
  • Build a strong relationship with key stakeholders on and off the court through demonstrated enthusiasm, responsiveness, trust, accessibility, and a physical presence at the club
  • Be highly motivated, driven and passionate about tennis, tennis coaching and club culture
  • Ability to promote and grow participation numbers leading to growing club membership
  • Be well mannered, articulate, and well presented
  • Ability to plan lessons with purpose and specific goals for student progression
  • Ability to manage and develop assistant coaches
