Casual Tennis Professional

Job Summary

The organization is looking for a Casual Tennis Professional who is responsible for tennis lessons & clinics for members and guests. The Casual Tennis Professional is an expert in the game, is qualified to teach and coach and is always engaging with the guest and member. The tennis staffs are responsible for contributing to the overall tennis experience as well as being an active participant in the overall property goals of offering a unique and outstanding guest and member experience.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Available to teach all levels and ages
  • Able to teach clinics, private lessons and workouts
  • Keep accurate records of clinics and lessons
  • Communicate with clinic and private lesson guests concerning special needs or concerns
  • Maintain, set-up and clean court before and after every lesson and clinic
  • Answer phones and assist in setting up clinics and lessons when requested by members and guests
  • Work in pro shop when needed to assist members and guests
  • Be completely familiar with what is offered within our tennis program
  • Promptly report any issues or problems to the director of tennis
  • Adhere to all company standard operating procedures including but not limited to adhering strictly to all cash handling and payment handling policies
  • Follow safe job practices at all times
  • Directly promote good interdepartmental relationships between all resort departments
  • Attend all meetings as scheduled
  • Promote excellent personal rapport with guests, providing a high degree of effective guest recognition
  • Wear appropriate tennis uniform
  • Actively participates in Safety Programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements
  • Participates in and supports hotel efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives
  • Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned

Venue and Company description

With a renowned tennis facility that offers something for players of every skill level, the resort has been rated as Southern California’s No. 1 tennis resort by tennis magazine consistently since 2008.  A pastoral setting of bouganvillea and citrus groves offers a serene, scenic backdrop for the 2 European clay courts and 14 beautiful plexi-pave championship courts, and 3 pickleball courts. A staff of experienced USPTA and USPTR certified tennis professionals are eager to help players reach their full potential on the court with lessons and programs tailored to the individual.

Candidate qualifications and skills

  • Ability to engage the guest and offer a fun and meaningful experience
  • A minimum of 4.5 level
  • Certified USTA, USPTA or PTR member
  • Able to fill in for tennis matches and clinics
  • Court washing experience

Casual Tennis Professional skills:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Ability to teach all levels and ages
  • Able to work weekends and holidays
  • Racquet stringing experience
  • Tournament and/or college experience

Physical Demands

  • Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property
  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity
  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time
  • Lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. frequently and 45 lbs. occasionally
  • Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach
  • Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on the telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment
