This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join a collaborative Senior Management team and contribute progressively to the continued success of a well-established club known for its program traditions, membership culture, and facilities. As a key member of the Senior Management team, the Director of Tennis reports directly to the General Manager/COO and assumes management and leadership responsibility for the Club’s Tennis operations.

This position serves in a highly visible capacity with the membership and works closely with the Tennis Committee in the overall achievement of the program’s goals. The Director of Tennis will promote a culture of member engagement and participation at all skill levels, while preserving the traditions of Somerset Hills. Club Highlights:

•Strategic: Develop and implement short and long-term departmental plans that support the Club’s strategic plan and promotes enthusiasm and growth in the Tennis Program

•Management & Leadership: Manage and lead tennis operations through high visible presence and approachability with an emphasis on creative programming, high level instruction, staff development, and member engagement

•Financial: Develop budgets and manage overall financial performance in areas of responsibility including operating and capital budgets

•Operational: Ensure the highest level of product quality, service delivery, and professional knowledge provided to members and guests with a focus on fostering an inviting and energetic atmosphere throughout all areas of the Tennis program

•Planning: Manage and coordinate the planning, scheduling, and successful execution of all tennis activities to include instructional programs, merchandising, lessons, tennis social events, team tennis, and tournaments •Collaboration: Work with other department leaders on cooperative efforts to ensure the Club continues to remain relevant with the membership in its services and offerings Candidate Qualifications: Competitive candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree •A minimum of 3 years of responsible management experience as a Director of Tennis and/or Head Professional in a member focused private club or similar hospitality environment •Proven track record of excellence in tennis instruction, programming, staff development and recruitment •Successful experience in developing and implementing a strong junior program across multiple age groups •Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to interact effectively with several different audiences and in a wide-range of situations

•Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly interactive role with the membership and provide effective management and leadership at all levels of the tennis operation

•Proven ability in working closely with management, committees, and key contributors in developing and executing the club’s vision

•Displays a strong working knowledge of court management and maintenance; specifically grass and Har-Tru surfaces •Possesses a high level of proficiency in both playing and teaching tennis

•Demonstrates a keen understanding of industry trends and financial acumen in managing a tennis operation in a private club setting

•Ability to achieve the highest levels of service and member satisfaction through continued staff training and development

•Verifiable experience in coordinating and executing successful ladies’, men’s, and junior tennis team programs •5.0 tennis playing competency or above •USPTA Certification Compensation:
