MTPF is seeking a highly experienced and motivated National Tennis Coach to lead the development and performance of Malta’s top tennis players. The successful candidate will oversee national team programs, work with elite and emerging players, and support the growth of tennis in Malta in alignment with MTPF’s strategic vision. Over and above the candidate is to propose a 5-year pilot project for juniors aged 12 and over. The selected candidate is expected to work a 40- hour week, with a flexible approach to work mornings, evenings and weekends. The candidate will also be expected to travel with the National Team to important overseas events.
The Malta Tennis and Padel Federation (MTPF) is the governing body for tennis and padel in Malta, responsible for the development, promotion, and administration of the sport through Tennis Malta at all levels. Our mission is to embrace a strong tennis culture by supporting players, coaches, and clubs to achieve excellence nationally and internationally.
3.1 Develop and implement a structured national tennis coaching program.
3.2 Identify and train talented junior and senior players to compete at international levels.
3.3 Plan and conduct high-performance training camps, national team sessions, and international competitions.
3.4 Collaborate with local clubs, academies, coaches, and stakeholders to enhance player development pathways.
3.5 Provide guidance and mentorship to local coaches to improve coaching standards.
3.6 Monitor and evaluate player performance, setting clear goals and performance indicators.
3.7 Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities and athlete progress.
3.8 Maintain accurate records of athlete performance and training data.
3.9 Work with the technical director to create and implement a national tennis plan.
3.10 Represent MTPF at international tournaments, training camps, and meetings.
3.11 Ensure adherence to international best practices in sports science, fitness, and injury prevention.
3.12 Promote the development of grassroots tennis to increase participation in the sport.
3.13 Attend local tournaments and observe junior players in action.
3.14 Attend junior subcommittee meetings whenever needed.
3.15 Work with the National Sports School to develop and deliver training programs for their students.
3.16 Collaborate with physical trainers, physiotherapists, sports psychologists, and other professionals for the benefit of the players.
3.17 Manage all tennis equipment within the National Tennis Centre.
3.18 Adhere to MTPF rules and regulations.
3.19 Willingness to undertake appropriate and additional training and attend workshops and seminars as directed by the MTPF
3.20 Follow the MTPF statute, standing rules and National selection hybrid ranking
4.1 Minimum of ITF Level 3 Coaching Certification (or equivalent).
4.2 Proven experience in High Performance Coaching at a national or international level.
4.3 Strong track record in developing elite junior and senior players.
4.4 Knowledge of modern training methodologies, sports psychology, and physical conditioning.
4.5 Strong organizational and time management skills.
4.6 Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
4.7 Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including clubs, academies, schools, players, and governing bodies.
4.8 Experience in managing international travel for competitions.
4.9 CPR and first-aid certifications
4.10 Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Maltese or other languages is an advantage.
4.11 Can motivate and inspire young players and become a positive role model.
4.12 Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
4.13 Maintains a professional and reliable demeanour.
