Head Coach (Level 4 or above)

Job Summary

Tennis club in Hertfordshire is looking for a Head Coach (Level 4 or above) who is responsible for leading the whole club coaching programme which includes junior and senior coaching programmes. Head Coach (Level 4 or above) will have experience in running all levels of mini / junior tennis and adult sessions. This also includes rusty rackets & cardio tennis and be prepared to work with existing assistant coaches. Commitment, punctuality, strong interpersonal skills and communication are of upmost importance. Coaches must be prepared to work through the majority of school holidays.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Leading a high-quality all-round programme which caters for all ages and abilities
  • On-court weekly delivery of mini, junior and adult group sessions plus individual sessions and on an adhoc basis holiday camps and tournaments
  • To assess the programme quality and results regularly and adapt where necessary to ensure the programmes, venue usage and membership continues to grow
  • To undertake other duties as may be required within your team and the wider club
  • Plan the expansion of the programme to include recruitment of a coaching team

Venue and Company description

The tennis club is a fabulous community and competitive club in the southwest of Hertfordshire. The club has played host to the Herts County closed junior tournament and runs a Grade 3 Junior open tournament each year which is an important tournament within the junior national calendar. The club has 10 courts, 4 hard, 6 AstroTurf with floodlights.  Our club has a great bar and the clubhouse and is often used for other community activities. Our coaches are an important and integral part of the club and community.  The club is owned by the members and run by a management committee.

Candidate qualifications and skills

  • Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Level 4 Coach Qualification or above
  • First Aid Certificate
  • LTA Accredited Coach
  • Experience in delivering a wide range of coaching sessions
  • Experience of working with the LTA and tennis clubs
  • Ability to travel, ideally the right candidate would live locally

Head Coach (Level 4 or above) skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Have a strong customer service ethos and desire to improve coaching services to all
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good online communication skills and experience in marketing coaching programmes in local communities and schools
  • Willing to learn and develop as part of a team
