Head Coach

Job Summary 

This is an employed position with National Tennis Association at Boundary Park, Didcot, a 4 x court LED floodlit facility. The Head Coach will support a growing program alongside an existing tennis coach in the delivery and development of the junior and adult timetable.

The role will be as a Head Coach with an initial 19 hours of core group delivery, plus the opportunity to quickly build 10-20 hours of individual coaching sessions, with 10 players currently on a waiting list for lessons.

On-court delivery consists of delivering LTA Youth Start, and delivering blue stage through to adult group sessions on Mondays to Saturday excluding Tuesdays and Sunday. Individual sessions and larger group work such as school tasters and Holiday Camps are also available.

The successful candidate will be able to deliver an individual coaching business, which has a membership of over 500 players. There are no court fees to deliver individual coaching and the successful candidate will run a self-employed coaching business alongside delivering a group coaching programme.

The successful candidate will quickly build a minimum of 10 hours of regular individual coaching sessions (as we have a current waiting list).

The salary is based initially on 19 x hours of weekly group coaching across 47 weeks of the year which equates to £17,290 – £19,266. The role is also expected to earn an additional £15,000 – £18,000 in the first year from individual coaching. The total package in year one has the earning potential of £37,266.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • To deliver and maintain a high quality, all-round coaching programme that caters for all ages and abilities.
  • To deliver an initial minimum of 19 hours of core group coaching per week and be available for individual coaching delivery. Group coaching hours are on evenings and weekends.
  • To assess the programme quality and check results regularly alongside adapting where necessary to ensure the programme and venues usage continues to grow.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required, such as Head Coach meetings and off court training.

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate must be experienced and comfortable working with kids aged 4-17 and be trained as an LTA Youth coach.

  • Experience in working with the LTA and tennis clubs
  • Marketing coaching programmes in local communities and schools
  • Experience in using software packages (including Google Apps and ClubSpark)

  • Boundary Park Tennis is a new venue, built and opening in 2021 and has quickly developed into a thriving place to play. The venue has over 500 members and a coaching programme of over 200 players with a waiting list.
