Our club is looking for a committed and passionate Head Coach to lead our entire tennis school and develop our competitive players. As our Head Coach, you will be the heart of the club and the primary professional resource for our members. We are a small, tight-knit Norwegian club where you will work independently and be the sole professional coach on court. However, there are opportunities to involve and mentor some of our younger junior players who are interested in contributing and gaining coaching experience. We operate a unique, inclusive model where all training for children and youth under 18 is free of charge to reduce economic barriers and ensure "Tennis for everyone. For life!". Our club has just under 200 members, ranging from 6-year-old beginners to high-level tournament players competing in National, Tennis Europe, and ITF events.
Our club is an inclusive and active club located in Halden, Norway. We offer a personal atmosphere with modern facilities available year-round: Indoor: Two hardcourt courts in our own hall. Outdoor: Two hybrid clay courts and one hardcourt. Social: Clubhouse and dedicated mini-tennis court.
Tennis School Management: Plan, conduct, and follow up on the entire tennis school for all ages and skill levels. Primary Instructor: Lead daily on-court activities independently, focusing on developing both recreational and competitive players. Tournament Direction: Serve as Tournament Director for the club's own events, typically one weekend every 3rd–4th week. Active Recruitment: Contribute actively to recruitment by maintaining contact with schools, being visible in the local community, and leading recruitment camps. Digital Presence: Contribute with content to the club's website and social media channels to promote activities and engagement. Mentoring: Guide and develop young club players who are interested in contributing as coaches in the future. Administrative Contribution: Manage member communication, maintain sponsor relations, and report regularly to the board. Facility Care: Take responsibility for ensuring the club’s facilities and equipment appear presentable and well-maintained.
The Heart of the Club: A coach who thrives in a central, independent role within a small community and lives by our vision: "Tennis for everyone. For life!". Structured and Organized: We seek a person with a high degree of order and overview, who is quick to follow up on inquiries and ensures that tasks are executed promptly and efficiently. Strong Communicator: Excellent skills in engaging with and following up on members, parents, and the board to foster a professional and welcoming environment. Professional Competence: Relevant coaching education and proven experience, with the ability to manage all levels from beginners to elite juniors. Independence: Comfortable being the sole professional coach on-site, taking full responsibility for the club's athletic progress. Integrity: Must follow the club's and NIF's ethical guidelines and provide a clean police certificate for working with minors.
Applicants must already have the legal right to work in Norway or within the EU/EØS. Unfortunately, Halden Tennisklubb is currently unable to sponsor work permits or relocation visas.
Diverse Income Model: A fixed annual salary for 80% position. Additional Income: A 60% commission on self-generated income from private lessons, camps, equipment sales, and racket stringing (20% position). Competitive Environment: Work with motivated players, including juniors ranked in the national top tier. Leading Role: A unique opportunity to be the primary sporting figure in a club with short decision-making paths and a supportive board. Professional Equipment: Official club clothing and gear are provided for representing the club.
