Job Summary
Crosswhite Athletic Club is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Tennis Professional to lead our tennis programming and elevate the overall tennis experience at our club. The Head Tennis Pro will manage all aspects of tennis instruction, player development, and event coordination, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for players of all levels. This role requires a passionate tennis expert with excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
Venue and Company description
Crosswhite Athletic Club serves the greater Lynchburg Area with the largest indoor courts in the area, boasting 5 tennis courts and 10 pickleball courts. Our club values family and fitness and we strive to provide quality opportunities for all.
Job duties and responsibilities
Instruction & Coaching:
- Lead group and private tennis lessons for clients of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players.
Develop and implement a progressive coaching curriculum that ensures continuous player development.
Provide specialized training for junior players, adult clinics, and competitive teams.
Analyze player performance and offer personalized feedback to improve skills.
Program Management:
- Plan, organize, and oversee tennis camps, clinics, and other special events ( , tournaments, leagues, and social events).
Design and implement year-round tennis programming for members, ensuring a balance of recreational and competitive play.
- Ensure that all tennis equipment is well-maintained and available for use.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor assistant tennis pros and other staff members, ensuring quality coaching and customer service.
Foster a team-oriented atmosphere among the tennis staff and encourage professional development.
Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for club members, ensuring they feel supported in their tennis goals.
Tennis Operations:
- Oversee the daily operations of the tennis facility, including scheduling courts, managing court reservations, and ensuring the facility is clean and organized.
Assist in coordinating and managing tennis-related events, ensuring proper setup, staffing, and smooth execution.
Monitor and maintain the tennis program’s budget, ensuring that the program remains financially viable.
Member Engagement & Customer Service:
- Build strong relationships with club members, providing exceptional customer service and responding to feedback.
Act as the main point of contact for tennis-related inquiries and concerns.
Promote and market tennis programs through newsletters, social media, and other club communications to enhance member participation.
* There is potential to add on to these Responsibilities in Pickleball as well.
Candidate qualifications and skills
- Certification from a recognized tennis association (USTA, PTR, USPTA, etc.) preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Ability to create and implement customized training programs for different levels of players.
- A passion for tennis and a dedication to enhancing the member experience.
