About us:

We are., one of Canada’s largest year-round indoor tennis facilities, is seeking an experienced High-Performance Coach and proven leader to take on the role of Academy Director in Calgary, Alberta. This is a premier leadership opportunity for a coach with a successful track record in developing competitive junior players to high national and international levels.

Job duties and responsibilities

Working Conditions

Ability to be active on court for extended periods (minimum 4 hours consecutively).
Coach up to 30 hours per week, combining on-court coaching and leadership duties.
Clear and confident communication in a busy training environment.

Candidate qualifications and skills

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a proven high-performance coach, experienced leader, and skilled administrator with the following qualifications and attributes:

Coaching & Player Development

Extensive experience developing junior players to high national and/or international competitive levels.
Tennis Canada Coach 3 certification (or international equivalent) minimum requirement.
Solid knowledge and experience with progressive tennis models and long-term athlete development principles.
Experience with tournament scheduling, periodization, and competition planning.
Ability to mentor and lead coaching staff within a performance structure.
Leadership & Management

Demonstrated experience managing high-performing teams and leading staff with professionalism and accountability.
Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Collaborative leadership style with high standards and a focus on culture and results.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including players, parents, coaches, and club leadership.
Administration & Communication

Solid knowledge and experience with tennis court booking software and facility management systems.
Highly organized with excellent planning and administrative skills.
Ability to manage schedules, player tracking, reporting, and program coordination.
Exceptional communication skills able to speak and write clearly and professionally in English with players, parents, coaches, and other club stakeholders.
Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to balance on-court coaching with off-court leadership responsibilities.
Other Important Attributes

·       College degree in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.

·       Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to set an example in both player development and club culture.

·       Passion for fostering a safe, respectful, and motivating environment for all members.

·       Ability to work flexible hours as required for training and program oversight.

Your Role as Academy Director

As Academy Director, you will:

Lead the vision, structure, and standards of Aforza’s Junior Academy.
Directly coach and oversee the development of top junior athletes.
Design and manage year-round training plans, competition pathways, and performance benchmarks.
Mentor and support academy coaching staff to ensure alignment and excellence.
Work closely with players and parents to support long-term development goals.
Collaborate with club leadership to grow Aforza’s reputation as a leading development centre.
Attend staff meetings and contribute to the overall growth of Aforza’s player development pathway.
Oversee player evaluations, progress reporting, and program reviews within the academy.
