00 - 9:00: Training with Esther Vergeer. Did you know Esther is one of the few wheelchair tennis players who are allowed to work on the courts of Roland Garros? Big compliment for her.
00 - 11:30: Hitting session with Ayumi. We trained on synthetic grass because Ayumi is already preparing for the grass season. After the work out with Ayumi we had to support Maria Kirilenko who was playing a doubles match against the Williams sisters. Unfortunately the Williams played better and won.
00 - 14:00: Training with Caroline. We initially planned this session at 12:00 but at that same time Verdasco also wanted to work with Mats. The relaxed and flexible attitude of Caroline, who played the Quarter Finals of Roland Garros, made it possible to change our schedule. Super professinal athlete.
00 - 15:00: Private lunch with myself :-). After lunch I had an appointment with the manager of a young Brazilian tennis talent (Tiago Fernandes). Tiago won the Australion open this year for junior players and he wants to prepare himself for the Tournament in Rosmalen, Holland.
00 - 17:00: Training with Esther again. Maikel Scheffers, who arrived earlier today, joined us. After the training Esther was interviewed by Al Jazeera. Cameras, journalists, lots of news people...nice.
00 - 17:30: Short hitting session with Maria Kirilenko and her doubles partner A. Radwanska.
45: Watched Jankovic defeat Hantuchova. Up to 4-4 in the first set it was a good match of both players. But after Daniela received a time warning she lost her concentration completely and lost the match. I spoke her afterwards and she confirmed that the time warning was indeed the turning point for her. She obviously felt pretty disappointed. Following the match of Hantuchova Mats and I planned the schedule of day 10 at Roland Garros.
00: Meeting with Erwin, employee of tennisdirect.nl, who will accompany us for a day. On our way back to the hotel we stopped at a great Libanese Restaurant to have a bite.
00 - 7:00: SLEEEEEEP. Feels great to go to bed on time for a change!
